How does the support we offer differ from, and work alongside, professional clinical treatment. What do you do when people are struggling to access or engage with treatment services, and how do you know how concerned to be when someone is struggling with a mental health condition?

Course Details:

With mental health services stretched, Church pastoral workers are increasingly facing mental health distress in their communities. Calls to our helpline tell us that pastoral teams need support in understanding how to respond to mental health conditions safely, and within the boundaries of their role.

That is why we’re inviting you to an exclusive Mental Health Safeguarding webinar with psychologist and Church Leader Revd. Dr Kate Middleton and psychiatrist Dr Chi-Chi Obuaya from The Mind and Soul Foundation

The webinar will help you understand:

  • When you should be concerned about someone’s struggle with a mental health condition (such as addictions, eating disorders, etc) and when/how to refer them.
  • When mental ill health becomes a safeguarding concern.
  • How to work safely alongside mental health professionals and how the support you offer differs from professional clinical treatment.
  • How to support people with issues such as suicide ideation and self-harm.
  • What to do when people are struggling to access or engage with treatment services.
